I was tagged by Brooke

This picture was taken on August 14th 2005, our 1st wedding anniversary. In Hampton Virginia. That's me unwrapping the top part of our wedding cake that somehow managed to survive a couple hurricanes and power outages... and a move into our first house. Owen was conceived a month after this picture was taken! (our love child :)

I'm tagging: Holly, Allison, Jaqui, Britta, Steph, Jess
Here's the deal: Go to your 6th photo file on your computer, and choose your 6th picture- and post it. Then tag 6 people!

obligatory blackmail photo

Don't worry Owen, I will not intentionally show this picture to your future girlfriends :)

Owen has a love for these Fizzy bath tablets and he'll say "I wanna take a 'goon mommy!" Because at some point I said "OOO blue lagoon!" and he must have picked up on that. Today, he said that he wanted a pink lagoon. Whatever gets the job done, right?

<- He was practicing his kicking and crawl stroke in this picture when I asked him to practice for class. I kid you not, right after this picture was taken, Owen said "Commeeeerrrrre Winnie girl!" and our dog got in too :)

growth spurt

Since Owen was born, I've pretty much bought most of his clothes from gymboree because it's definitely my favorite store. They have these collections that come out with completely matching sets. I always get compliments about how cute and coordinating Owen's outfits are. Anyway, Owen in in size 4T now! I can't believe how big he is. I should be able to believe it.... because from the time when he was a month old, he was already in the 90th percentile, and kept growing until his "peak" i call it, he was in the 98th percentile when he was 6 months old. He's going to be TALL too, like my grandfather. He was 22 inches long when he was born! I've had to buy Owen pretty much a complete wardrobe in the past couple of weeks because he's growing so much. His shoe size is 11!!! (Which is the equivalent of a 4 or 5 year old.... what the heck!)

Anyway, I ordered ALL of these clothes online because it's not all that productive to go clothes shopping in an actual store, with Owen anymore. I can barely concentrate on what I need to get, so online shopping works for me. I have my morning tea and shop while Owen is still sleeping! :)

Rice & Beans

Well, here's the update on the success of the "water" table, turned dry stew items...

Owen LOVES it!!! He's been playing in it for about an hour now... driving his tractors and work machines through it making "beep beep beep" sounds hahaha. He hasn't tried to throw any of it out yet, but he munches on the beans and rice occasionally and doesn't look very pleased afterwards haha.

As you can see, I also put a bag of split peas in there for some color :)

It's coming....

Winter, that is. As I drive up over the hill coming home, I can see the VT mountains off in the distance, capped with SNOW! So, yesterday the weather was surprisingly beautiful. Owen's swimming lessons ended about a week ago, and I signed him up for a different kind of class, because he can swim on his own now, but isn't old enough to be in the class he's ready to be in. So for this session of classes, I signed Owen up for Play & Splash. He had his first class yesterday and it took up most of the morning, so Owen was only able to play for a little while outside after we got home from his class, and voting.... before he had to take a much needed nap. His Play & Splash class, by the way, was great! All of the kids (9 including Owen..... 8 boys and 1 girl hahaha) are between 2-3 years. The first hour of the class is spent having free play in the gym, and circle time with songs. Then, for the half an hour left, we swim. Owen LOVED it and kept saying "Bye bye playing with the kids, bye bye swimming with the kids" the ENTIRE ride home.

So that class is a great thing to have, especially as it starts to get colder outside. It's nice to have indoor activities to take him to, because as all you moms with boys know, boys have A TON of energy! I'll continue doing a lot of weekday swimming with Owen too to keep him busy and active. But I'll be honest, there are some days when I don't feel like leaving the house because it's either too cold outside, or I just have a ton of stuff to get done around the house. That's why I came up with a plan.... I'm going to bring in a bunch of Owen's outdoor toys, including;

With the water table, I'm planning on filling it with raw rice and beans so that Owen can drive his trucks through it and use sifting tools/spoons etc. He loves that water table. Even now that it has water below a thin layer of ice. So, it seemed too bad that he would have to go all winter without using it. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes!
